Most things to do in San Jose Costa Rica can be enjoyed when walking. If you are staying in the center of the town, you can walk to a lot of attractions. However, some parts are sketchy so it is advisable not to walk in the city after 9 PM. You should always take an Uber or a taxi during the night.
